It’s a classic fairytale: young damsel, overlooked and mocked for her disheveled exterior, undergoes a transformation with the wave of a wand, and ends up a beautiful princess. Well, sort of. In our story, our damsel in distress is a vintage Japanese moon chair, and the magic is the reupholstery guru, Revitaliste, with a little help from our mud cloth fabric by the yard.
Launched in 2015, Revitaliste is a Bay Area-based company that offers a one-stop-shop for any reupholstery, refinishing, and refurbishing needs. They offer design guidance, delivery, and procurement of any materials needed. They work with only the best artisans to ensure their work is top-notch.
Our project started with a pair of vintage Japanese moon chairs. The chairs had a gorgeous shape, but their worn silk cushions and wooden frame had seen better days. We consulted with Revitaliste to pick out which of our fabrics by the yard would work best with the design, handed them off, and voilá! The chairs came back upholstered in our mud cloth fabric with a beautifully refinished wood frame. The chairs took on a new attitude – modern and sleek, but maintained the original form that made them so unique.
If you are interested in giving any of your furniture new life, schedule a free design consultation (a value of $150) with Revitaliste at one of our Bay Area stores – San Francisco or Palo Alto. You can book your appointment with founder and owner Amy Frederickson here. You can also enjoy 10% any services just for being part of the St. Frank family!
If you are interested in purchasing one or the pair of our mud cloth moon chairs, you can call our San Francisco store at (415) 416-6918 or email us for more information.
