Gift Guide for the Host

Posted November 12, 2016 by Nora Handsher

It’s that time of year: time to put on your party shoes and head out to visit family and friends in faraway places (or right next door).  It’s our long-held belief that one should never arrive to a party empty handed. But you’ve got a lot of other things to juggle without adding last minute trips to pick up gifts throughout the season. So, we’ve rounded up our favorite treats to make it easy for you to snag the perfect item for your gracious host.

  1. For the nurturing host offering a cozy hearth on a chilly day, return the warm welcome with the softest and chicest throw around, in baby alpaca from Peru.
  2. For the boisterous host who pulls out all the stops to surprise and delight her guests, come carrying these dazzling bowls. The hand-hammered copper bowls from India are high impact stunners and are sure to turn heads, even for the person who has it all.
  3. For the jolly host whose home is decked in holiday flair on November 1st, bring our cutie patootie ornament sets, packed in a sleek black box and tied with a bow.
  4. For the rowdy host who loves to play bartender (and who’s responsible for your morning after), gift these beautiful handwoven coasters. Bonus points: the artisan group in Rwanda that makes these coasters is dedicated to bettering the lives of women who were effected by the genocide of 1994.
  5. For the foodie host who cooks the most incredible spreads, come bearing this vintage serving ladle to complete his kitchen (also perfect for serving yourself seconds).
  6. For the worldly host who spends the other 10 months of the year traveling the globe, wrap up this gorgeous coffee table book about Kenya’s northern island of Lamu. Eye candy and education? Count us in.
  7. For the laid-back host who lives by his own rules, offer these rustic wooden bowls, hand-carved from tree roots. They are perfect for serving, a center-piece, or simply sculptural on their own.
  8. For the chic host with the magazine-ready abode, hand over this set of sleek candles in stunning brass, copper, and nickel containers. These Tom Dixon scents are inspired by the subtle yet poetic smells of London, including the city’s parks and red bricks, earl grey tea and scones, and the faint memory of an Indian wedding with rose garlands.

Let the good times roll!
