Provenance
This fabric is inspired by a vintage St. Frank piece created in Uzbekistan. The Lakai people are a sub-tribe of the Uzbek who did not embrace Islam and have instead maintained the traditions of mountain horsemen. The symbols of their vibrant, free-style embroidery reflect their ancient way of life. In this piece, for example, the star and hooked sun-disc motifs reference the Lakai practices of sun and fire worship. The all-over design, with dense embroidery, represents the free flowing energy characteristic of Lakai textiles.
Our fabric by the yard is made of Belgian linen and cotton, and printed in the USA.
