The art of block printing began in the state of Rajasthan, India, in the 18th century. The process uses wooden blocks and fabric dyes to produce geometric patterns or patterns inspired by the flora and fauna of nature. First, the blocks are hand carved from seasoned teak. Then, an expert color master creates any shade, tint, tone, or hue. The blocks are dipped in the dye and imprinted on linen in a precise repeat. Finally, the linen is dried in the sun for several days to set the color. Leopards have held court with Indian kings and queens in art and literature from ancient times to present day.
