Soft Lakai Pillow
This vintage St. Frank piece was created in Uzbekistan. The Lakai people are a sub-tribe of the Uzbek who did not embrace Islam and maintain the traditions of mountain horseman. Abstract curved and linear forms are typical of their vibrant free-style embroidery. Abstract animal and vegetable symbols, which reflect their ancient way of life, are also common motifs. The all-over design, with dense embroidery, shows off a free flowing energy characteristic of Lakai textiles.
