Provenance

This hand-crafted utensil originates from the fallen branches collected in the Peten jungle, the largest remaining tropical jungle spanning Central America and the cradle of Mayan civilization. This forest was also the same wood source that built the grand Mayan ancient structure, La Danta, which still stands today. Woodworking generates a positive economy for Peten artisans. Each piece, whether it’s the durable and stunning Jobillo, the slow-growing and decay-resistant Ziricote, or the Pixi wood picked just at the right moment to achieve its one of a kind map-like lines, is hand-finished in a non-toxic, food-safe beeswax paste derived from local bees.
